Learning to listen to others in the workplace

Chapter 2 speaks in depth about how teams are important and also how non verbal communication can be recieved when it is done the right way. A great example of how SONY Records works was something that I observed while I was there for an interview. Team work seemed to be in progress all over the building but particularly on the floor that I had been on. As I walked past meetings in progress, I realized how well the people were communicating with one another. In the hallways, business communication was happening in all different forms but most importantly, I saw for myself how well the etiquette in the workplace was and how each person seemed to care about one another's craft in the group. In chapter 2, that is apart of the listening process, and through the listening process, if its being done correctly, you would be able to work better with your fellow employees.

The Importance of Diversity / Writing Business Letters

When it comes to diversity, SONY has mastered the skill of learning to market to all races and genders. They recieved the 1st Diversity Management Award. They use diversity to drive their success as a global company. They market to a diverse world by offering jobs to individuals with different backgrounds. They definitely do not market to one type of group; that is evident in their multiple record companies that cater to different genres of music. In chapter 5, they talk about knowing how to write proper business letters and even ads. I am sure that SONY has a specific department that is responsible for writing letters and putting out ads that will attract buyers.

The Importance of being persuasive.

In Chapter 10, we see that being persuasive especially while writing business messages is very helpful and there are important points that can help us in the future in the job environment. One of the eye catching points made in the chapter was being able to structure your message using the AIDA model. The AIDA model stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. All of these points all are geared to your audience and how your message can be better put across to them. The AIDA plan is not only used as indirect approach but also as a direct approach. The chapter also goes into discussion on how to balance emotional and logical appeals when speaking to audience members. So this chapter not only explains how to be persuasive while presenting your product to an audience but if you look closely, you will see that some of these techniques can be used in everyday life.

Enhancing presentations- September

There are so many ways that you can enhance your presentations. There are visuals that you can add. There are also different different pointers that you can use to make your presentation easier to understand. Throughout the Chapter, there are pointers that you can use to enhance your presentation. Personally I use notes that I take while reasearching different ideas. I write them down and try to add them when Im completing the project in the end. So at that point, my presentation would have had some type of better quality.
